  10. ## 🚀 Project Structure
  11. Inside of your Astro project, you'll see the following folders and files:
  12. ```text
  13. /
  14. ├── public/
  15. │ └── favicon.svg
  16. ├── src/
  17. │ ├── components/
  18. │ │ └── Card.astro
  19. │ ├── layouts/
  20. │ │ └── Layout.astro
  21. │ └── pages/
  22. │ └── index.astro
  23. └── package.json
  24. ```
  25. Astro looks for `.astro` or `.md` files in the `src/pages/` directory. Each page is exposed as a route based on its file name.
  26. There's nothing special about `src/components/`, but that's where we like to put any Astro/React/Vue/Svelte/Preact components.
  27. Any static assets, like images, can be placed in the `public/` directory.
  28. ## 🧞 Commands
  29. All commands are run from the root of the project, from a terminal:
  30. | Command | Action |
  31. | :------------------------ | :----------------------------------------------- |
  32. | `npm install` | Installs dependencies |
  33. | `npm run dev` | Starts local dev server at `localhost:4321` |
  34. | `npm run build` | Build your production site to `./dist/` |
  35. | `npm run preview` | Preview your build locally, before deploying |
  36. | `npm run astro ...` | Run CLI commands like `astro add`, `astro check` |
  37. | `npm run astro -- --help` | Get help using the Astro CLI |
